Spread Love – How To Engage In Acts Of Radical Self-Love

To love and accept yourself fully, in a society that tears us down every step of the way, is a rebellious act. Be a rebel. Love yourself. Spread love.

To love and accept yourself fully, in a society that tears us down every step of the way, is a rebellious act. Be a rebel. Love yourself. Spread love.

In a society that urges you to see only your imperfections, to compare yourself to others and to dislike yourself and your body, loving yourself, accepting yourself, is a rebellious act. But it is something we must all dedicate our time and energy toward. Not just for ourselves, but for the people around us and for the upcoming generations. Love is always essential, and we need to begin by loving ourselves.

When one person loves themselves, accept themselves as they are and radiate confidence, self-esteem and happiness, that in turn spreads to the people around them. When one person is themselves, the raw version of themselves without the masks and layers, it creates a ripple effect and in turn, others may feel that it is safe to also be themselves. That is the kind of positive change the world needs today.

How do you treat yourself? When was the last time you slept in or had a day off? When was the last time you had a mental health day or dedicated a day or even a few hours to pampering and cherishing yourself?

Can’t remember? Then that’s where you need to start.

Remember to breathe

Everyone needs downtime and time spent simply breathing, and catching up. The world is so incredibly fast-paced today and we aren’t designed for it. Our systems can’t keep up and neither can our stress levels. Downtime is essential, both for physical and mental health. Without it, we are also more susceptible to the brainwashing of society.

It starts early. Even as children, we are shown what is seen as beautiful and what isn’t, in the eyes of society. What one should strive for and what one should change. But it is all a lie. Beauty truly does come from within. It doesn’t matter how much time you spend perfecting your outer shell. If you still aren’t in balance and aren’t caring for your inside, your soul, you’ll never be beautiful or happy. Because happiness is beautiful. Confidence is beautiful. Health is beautiful.

Beauty doesn’t have an age, a gender or a skin colour. Beauty isn’t related to your figure, the colour of your hair or your height.

Love yourself

You do NOT have to change yourself to match a certain beauty ideal and you should never even try. All of us are unique, and we should never strive to let go of that to pass a certain ideal. Be yourself, love yourself and cherish all that makes you, you.

If you have gorgeous curls, don’t hate on them and flatten them until your hair breaks. If you don’t have curls, don’t hate on your flat hair and ruin it with perms and curling irons. If you have curves, don’t strive for a stick figure. If you have a stick figure, don’t hate on your body and wear padded clothes to hide it.

Your body is the wondrous vessel where your soul resides. Instead of hating on it, think of all that it does for you, all that it can do for you. It enables you to experience things, meet amazing people, see the world, find love – it is an extraordinary gift. It carries you everywhere and anywhere you want to go. Every cell in your body works to do what you want, to keep you safe and healthy. That’s millions of cells all dedicated to loving you. Don’t destroy all that good energy, all that love, by telling your body it isn’t good enough.

Have you ever heard someone tell another person that they’re glowing?

That is what happens when you are in balance. When you love yourself. When your soul is truly at peace and you have done right by it. If you ignore the words of society, stop looking in the mirror so much, stop with the scales and measuring tapes and fashion magazines full of stick figure models, and instead, take time every day to love yourself, you will soon see the change.

Give yourself massages, moisturise, exercise, drink lots of water, take vitamin supplements, spend time in nature, go on long walks, sweet-talk yourself and hug yourself. Your body deserves it. You deserve it. Give your body love and name something you like about it every day.

Focus on your health, physical and mental, and it will shine through. If you don’t like where your body is at right now, because it isn’t firm enough, strong enough, or something of that nature, do not resort to hate. Use the law of attraction and speak the healthy body you want into existence. Start exercising and play regularly.

Find your inner glow

Life isn’t as serious as people make it out to be. Learn from children. They’re not bigoted or full of hate. They focus on the wonder of the world, on playing, having fun and connecting with others. They are pure, and unknowingly, they operate on a soul level. Children have yet to be taught to give the reins over to the monkey mind.

Think like a child, take the time to do things simply because you want to, play and enjoy life. Focus on loving your soul and the rest will come into balance as well. Before you know it, you will be glowing. You will find your glow and you will bloom.

And remember, your body loves you. Love it back.
