Fibre Mats work – The seeds are germinating

The fibre mats I ordered made it to the post office today, so I’ll receive them tomorrow. So, tomorrow I will place the chili and pepper seeds on one mat, the soaked tomatillo seeds on another and some tomato seeds on a third. I didn’t plan on prepping any tomato seeds this year, but I got some great varieties and I want to try them out. I hope to grow enough that they’ll last me through next winter.

I also plan on starting a few varieties of flower seeds on a few of the fibre mats. I don’t know much about sowing flowers, but the varieties I have are supposed to be great at attracting pollinators, so this year I’ll be sowing a lot of flowers. Many of the seeds have germinated and are fighting hard to stand up despite being weighed down by the heavy seed husks. I’ve realised that the plants I’ll receive from starting seeds this way will naturally be much stronger and hardier than the ones I’ve grown in soil. I look forward to seeing them grow and evolve.

What seeds are you starting this year?
