How to Spend Less Than £25 On Your Phone Plan Every Year

Never take the first offer. Look around. Take the best offer and save a fortune.

How I keep costs low

I switch phone plans whenever I get a better offer than the one I currently have. That allows me to spend less than £25 per year for phone calls, texts and internet. I am always tracking deals by allow the sites that I want to track to gather cookies. That way, I get offers of their new, lowered prices by those sites without having to do the manual legwork myself each time.

My latest deal

I was fairly satisfied with the phone plan that I had, but the deal I had accepted was about to expire and these days it is better to be a new customer than an old one. Sad, but true. Companies value their new customers highly, but it is rarely profitable to be an old customer.

Soon after I began looking around, I got a much better offer from another phone company, and then I made the switch.

The deal got even better

The new phone company suddenly made the offer sweeter still. They told me I could share a link, somewhat like an affiliate link, and for every person I got to sign up, I got a certain amount taken off of my phone bill.

So the original offer was to pay the Swedish equivalent of £1.5 per month for four months. It didn’t matter which phone plan I chose as the offer applied to all of them. Every person I could get to sign up would get £0.75 off of their bill, and so would I. Every month for as long as the newcomer continues with the plan.

Around the same time I got this link, I was looking for a new phone plan for my business. Fortune favours the brave, and I made use of that link. That led to me cutting the cost of the phone plan in half for both my business and for myself. And a cost of £0.75 a month is almost like getting the phone plan for free. Of course, if I share my affiliate link with one more person and they sign up, my plan will be completely free. At least for the first four months.

After the 4 months

When the four months have passed, I can either:

  • pause my phone plans for free

  • find another bargain somewhere else for three months or more

  • speak to the phone company about my plan and get a new deal

Or I can share my link with enough people that I end up getting my private phone plan for free. In theory, I could do the same for my business.

The difference

My previous phone plan for my business cost between £22 and £30 per month. So going from that to £0.75 a month for at least four months was well worth it.

Most people pay somewhere between £5 and £35 per month for their private phone plans, including internet. So the fact that I pay less than £25 for 12 months is something I am very pleased with.

Conclusion:

Don’t be shy. They want more customers and they have room in their budget to make good deals for their customers. So look into what deals you could get if you stay with your current provider. If you can’t get a better deal on your current phone plan, it might be worth making the switch and finding a better deal elsewhere.
