Two major issues – waste and electricity costs. The solution – biogas. We can turn our waste into biogas and use it for our vehicles, heaters and kitchens.
Have you ever heard of biogas? I am sure you have. Cars run on it, it is used to heat homes and it is used for cooking.
Ideas on how to turn waste into biogas
Biogas is something that is very handy to have on hand and it has multiple purposes. Waste is something that everybody produces, be it animal waste, human waste or food waste, and it must go somewhere…
The content below was originally paywalled.
Those kind of thoughts have inspired people worldwide to create solutions that can turn human waste, animal waste or food waste – or all three – into biogas. With such a solution, people wouldn’t need to worry about human waste leaking out into our drinking water. They won’t need to shuffle about the animal waste, using plastic bags and throwing it in the bin. And they wouldn’t need to throw out their food waste, or compost it, unless they wanted to do the latter.
Innovations
The idea is quite brilliant and so there is little wonder that so many people are intrigued to try it out. It solves two very important issues that we are facing in modern society. And those are issues we have faced for centuries. I refer to what we should do about our human waste and how to be able to afford gas. All inventions are designed to solve a problem, and inventions of this nature are usually a big hit among investors. It is important for creative minds to not just go for what is easy to solve, but to solve problems that are common and widespread.
When you use a composting toilet – and yes, I know the thought makes some people shudder – you are gaining so much. You won’t have to invest in a water toilet, in connecting water to it through pipes, or invest money in the water itself. You won’t need electricity to keep it going either. And that is innovation at its best. Simplifying and letting one solution solve other problems that the first problem caused.
Furthermore, if you have animals – and this is not me endorsing domestication or use of animals – their waste can be used to create biogas. That biogas could in turn power your hot plate, your heater or your car. If you are plant based, as most of my readers are, then you can use the food waste you produce, or your garden waste, if you grow your own food.
Where do I begin?
You could build one of these devices yourself or you could use this one. Unfortunately, they don’t recommend using their product for animal waste or human waste. Therefore, if it is at all possible, you might want to try building one yourself, or if you can, have someone tech savvy build one for you.
